Grade Level Review

Through the use of the placement tests designed for the Direct Instruction programs and informal testing, the directors are proficient at obtaining an accurate understanding of the grade your child is working at in mathematics, spelling, reading, and writing. We also take into close consideration feedback from the student's report cards, Individual Education Plan (IEP), if applicable, as well as educational assessments or psychological reports administered by other professional sources.

What is an IEP?

An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is a written agreement between the parents and the school about what the child needs and what will be done to address those needs. IEPs must be created by the educational team for the exceptional child. Such educational plans must include the following components:

  1. The student's present levels of academic performance
  2. Annual goals for the student
  3. Short-term instructional objectives related to the annual goals
  4. The special education and related services that will be provided, as well as the extent to which the child will participate in regular education programs
  5. Plans for starting the services and the anticipated duration of services
  6. Appropriate plans for evaluating, at least annually, whether the goals and objectives are being achieved
  7. Transition planning for older students
